Safety Critical Medical

Safety critical medicals are thorough medical assessments required to ensure that employees are fit to perform the tasks required. A questionnaire covering medical history, mental health and wellbeing will be sent out prior to appointments.

The following necessary information MUST be taken to the appointment:

Unfortunately, if you attend your appointment without the necessary information; the appointment will have to be rearranged – this will incur an additional cost.


At the Appointment

Proof of ID will be requested before the medical commences e.g. driving licence/passport. The questionnaire will be reviewed by a trained occupational health technician.

The following tasks will then be performed:

If a drug and alcohol test is required; a urine cup laboratory drug test and a saliva swab alcohol test can be performed at an additional cost (please refer to price list).


Frequency of Safety Critical Medicals

Before starting a safety critical role, you need to pass an initial medical assessment. After that, your medical is usually required to be renewed every 3 years; although age and health can affect the renewal frequency. The general guidelines are:
